GIVING IN TO THE SYSTEM

And coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected by men, but choice and precious in the sight of God (1 Peter 2:4).

"Pastor, I'm a loser," a high school boy told me dejectedly. He explained that he wanted to be a star football player, but had been cut from the team. Instead of being in the spotlight as an athlete, he had to settle for being a member of the pep band. And compared to star quarterbacks, clarinet players were losers at his school.

We are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were entreating through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God (2 Corinthians 5:20).

God has a unique place of ministry for each of us. It is important to your sense of fulfilment that you realize exactly where that place is.

DELIGHT IN THE LORD

Delight yourself in the LORD,and He will give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4).

Jeremiah said, "The heart is more deceitful than all else and is desperately sick" (17:9). With that description, you can imagine what the heart is capable of desiring. Delighting in what the world offers will only temporarily satisfy those desires and will sicken your heart even more. But if you delight in the Lord, your desires will change.
